Are there different types of groomers?

Yes! there are several types of groomers!

  • Salon/Shop: the groomer that works in or owns a private shop or salon, which can be located in their home, in a stand-alone structure, a pet resort / kennel, in a strip mall or a super store. You bring your pet to their location for grooming.

  • Veterinary In-House: the groomer that works at a Veterinary Hospital or Clinic location.  This groomer can perform grooming for the most difficult pets because of the ability to safely groom tranquilized pets, since there is a Veterinarian on site during the time the pet is TQ'D.  It is against the law for your groomer to prescribe a tranquilizer for your pet as this should be done only by a Veterinarian. You as the owner can administer the prescribed drug, but not your groomer.

  •  Mobile:  the groomer that is in a converted Van, RV, Truck or Trailer that comes to you.   The grooming unit on wheels is a self contained grooming salon, with on-board power, water and grey-water holding area.  The exception to this is the unit that has "Shore Power", needing to plug in to your home, some units during peak hot weather will need to do this to run larger A/C units that cannot be accommodated by the on-board Generator or Inverter power.

  •   House-call Grooming: the groomer that comes "in your home" to groom your pet, using your facility (usually kitchen, laundry room or garage) but their equipment and supplies which they bring with them.  This is a very special service, and requires the owner/caregiver to be at home.
